iPod touch White screen on iPod touch 4th gen?

My niece had her iPod touch 4th gen white screen. I've never heard of this before searching for it. I've did the usual hold home and power for 10 seconds and it does nothing. I can't get it to restart or tuen off.

Any other suggestions? I don't know if she has ever backed it up or anything so I guess I'm thinking for the worst right now and I have to do a full restore.

Anyway I could possibly pull stuff off for worst case scenario? She's young and freaking out. Thanks!

Restore it. If it's still shows a white screen after the restore, then it has faulty hardware. Bring it to Apple after that and get it replaced.

Just let the battery drain and plugged it back in and charged it back up. Started back up and works fine so far I guess. I told her to make sure to back it up regulararly so if it happens again that she won't have to worry about a failure. Thanks.
