White screen on start up (death)?

My macbook will chime and the screen goes white and will not do anything more.

I have bootcamp on this and if I hold dowm the option key I can get the mouse pointer to appear.

Bad hard drive, video card, or logic board?

Can data be recovered from windows portion of hard drive?

Have you tried any of these steps?

A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac​

And most likely you can retrieve your data from either partition, unless the partition table is shot, thus you might need to do some more work.
