white screen upon restart

When I hit restart, the computer goes off and on again and freezes with the white screen. This is normally where the apple icon appears but it doesn't. I then have to push the power button and shut it all the way off then turn it on again, after which, it works fine.

Have you tried booting from Safe Mode (hold shift key when you press the pwr button)? If not try and see if you can get it to repeat the white screen. If you can't get the white screen the problem is w/ one of your login items (System Preferences -> Users -> click on your user name and go to Login Items. Disable one at a time until the problem goes away.

If you still get the white screen even in Safe Mode then back up you system if you don't do daily backups and reinstall the OS. If that doesn't work then you probably have a hardware issue.

You could also try setting up a new admin account and logging in from it. It could be something isolated in our current admin acct. causing the issue.
