I've just noticed on my new Macbook whenever the lid is open and I tilt the notebook side to side I can hear something sliding around in the top left and right parts of the base. It sounds like a tube around cylinder if that makes sense. It doesn't happen when the screen is closed just open, is this normal? I'm sure it is has it's happening on booth sides but would like confirmation for peace of mind.

Thanks.

And here I thought it was a thread about getting kids hooked onto Apple gear starting when they're babies.

Just saw the video and now I notice mine does the same thing, but it is so subtle. How in the heck did you ever notice that? I'm going to open mine up so I can see what it is.

I have a white unibody MacBook, and mine makes the same rattle when the display is open and I tilt the computer (same sound as the one in Caris' video). At first, I was worried about this. I then went to two different computer stores to check out the display models, and they make the same noise. So it seems like a "normal" behavior -- that doesn't necessarily mean it's not a problem of some kind, it just means that most unibody white MacBooks probably do this. So I didn't exchange mine, figuring any new one would make the same sound.

is this when the machine is on? If so it could be the sudden motion sensor.

Let me know what you find!

It's not the sudden motion sensor, been down that route!

hey guys, i've never experienced this before...
i tried tilting it both left and right, no rattle sounds on either sides.
hmmmm, i hope it's nothing bad....
