Which one is the better one?
As im getting one or the other used, I live in the UK.

Thanks

Depends. There was only one aluminum MacBook, but every other MacBook before and after it came in white. Which White MacBook are you talking about?

i dont know maybe 2008?

----------

im from UK by the way. And i was looking at white ones but my friend advised me to go for the aluminium one as it will last longer.

I might go for the macbook pro used as the specs are must better but it costs more

I had an early 2008 White MacBook and then got an Aluminum MacBook when I destroyed the White one (got it wet). I'm still using the Aluminum one. Performance was basically identical. The Al model has a better, buttonless trackpad and a backlit keyboard. The Al has a Minidisplayport instead of minidvi connector, which was a disadvantage for me as I had occasional use of composite video out which the minidisplayport cannot do.

The White Macbook looked pretty sad after a year, while the Aluminum one looks like new today, and I don't treat it any differently except for not trying to clean it!

I'd strongly suggest the Aluminum model over the White.

Ok thanks, I think the aluminium will defiantly last longer and personally it looks alot nicer.

Thanks :apple:

I agree, I have the Aluminum and my Ma has the white. It's just got a more solid build (it IS aluminum) and I think it just looks more elegant. Also, it's very unique seeing as how there were so few made. It's a rare collectable!

Oh, and the bottom of the Aluminum one has a easily removable panel for easy access to the HDD and the Battery. =)

Personally I would get the metal one because:
-metal body
-unibody
-backlit
-TRACKPAD!
-durrability
-does not look outdated

I also like the white unibody bit that was 2009/2010

I have the mid 2010 and love it. I'll definitely keep this for years to come. I might hand it off to my wife but, it's staying on the family.

I'd suggest the white and just take care of it.
the white uni is one of my favourite designs. The metal is annoying after a while. white was apples colour.

For me the white polycarb was better. Only because I'm allergic to metal contact over extended periods, and break out. :)

In computers, newer is typically better.

However, you don't mention your budget, your requirements, or exactly what models you're considering.

Without knowing more details, I'd say go with the newest you can afford.

This being my first Apple system, I love it and will baby it as much as I can. The guy I bought it from went and bought a 17" MBP and I still like this one better. Maybe it's the size of the 17" compared to this 13". Now, I am interested in the 13" MBA but, I'll still keep this Macbook. :)

I agree with you on this for sure. I lucked up on this one with my friend that sold it.

The white unibody MacBooks (2009/10) are newer than the Aluminum. I'd go for them if you could get that. Otherwise, Aluminum over the older (2006 to early 2008) non-unibody white MacBooks.

Personally I see no reason to choose a white macbook over the limited run Aluminium edition regardless of year. Except of course unless you needed a firewire port - something which the Alu macbook doesnt have.

Other than that, spec wise they're almost exactly the same (even if you compare a 08 alu macbook to a 2010 white macbook).

The aluminium chasis is FAR superior to that of the plastic white - it really is extremely sturdy and will cosmetically hold up better than the white macbook in the years to come.

Alu all the way.
