Returned two S6 & now I think I’m returning this S7.

Apart from certain features just not working, I simply can’t see a use case for the device.

I’m no longer into my fitness, and I never went for the cellular version, so the little advantage of popping out without your iPhone is not there.

I just don’t see what the fuss is all about with these things.

If you could enlighten me, I’d be open to suggestions.

If you’re enjoying your AWs, I’m happy for you.

I don’t understand why wouldn’t you post this in general, you’ll get more relevant responses as most who are here are consistent AW users.

and also if you know this:

why even bother to buy. There are folks who would like to buy one that would have preferred you just cancel vs buy and then return then make a post such as this.

I guess if you’re no „watch guy“ then that’s it.

I used to wear mechanical watches for a long time, since a couple of years I wear Apple Watches instead.

For me neither the iPhone or the Watch is the „best“ Apple device - but both of them together are. It’s amazing how the Watch extends the usefulness of the iPhone, especially in terms of health features - not necessarily just to track exercises.

I was sucked in by Apple’s marketing, and genuinely thought I was missing out on something.

But I just can’t see the appeal.

Maybe it would grow on me?

I suppose I was hoping for more positive responses, to give me second thoughts about returning it.

I don’t take pleasure in having to drive miles to collect, then repeating the journey to return.

I really wanted to love this thing.

If you’ve tried it three times then it’s never going to grow on you.

Nothing wrong with it but the  watch just isn’t for you and that’s fine.

You’ve already established a pattern with the 6.

you make the mile sound like it’s such a tedious task.

Uh huh.

Hey BT, you mentioned before that you don’t have any active cellular plans on any of your AWs.

Is that because you don’t see any benefit of having the cellular connection?

will you go for non cellular next time you buy one?

I really pity you, such negativity and venom.

Maybe there’s an app for that?
Lmao. You must be really butt hurt to read that as “negativity and venom”.

🥺

fwiw, I’m stating facts. I consistently look at bands and think wow, love it, (marketing and all) but I know myself and I ain’t never gonna swap out as much and get much use from more then I have unlike others so more power to them.

unlike you, I don’t waste time buying over and over. Once, ok. Twice… Pausible. Three times or more is a pattern and you’re making a post in Apple Watch vs general.

I don’t see the big benefit, you’re right.

I won‘t go for non-cellular though as I prefer Stainless Steel or Titanium cases (I‘m a watch nut and they feel so much better than Alu, plus they have a sapphire crystal) and those only come with cellular functionality.

I have always had the cellular model for the sole purpose of being able to leave my phone behind. Going to the beach, I don’t have to worry about my phone. Going on a bike ride, leave phone home. I also like being able to “unplug” from social media and other things that my phone entices me with. This allows me to be more present with my family and be able to see if the text/phone call is important without running to grab my phone.

Does the cellular option also give alerts for third party apps, like WhatsApp etc, or is it only for calls, email & texts/iMessages etc?

For me, the best thing about the watch is the fitness motivator. Trying to close the three fitness circles every day motivates me to move around at least a minimal amount, instead of sitting in the chair all day.

I also have the complications set up so I can see the temperature and weather at a glance. Also have the timer on the same face so I can start a timer with a few taps. It's pleasantly convenient.

And I use the watch to time my meditation sessions.

Oh, and if you have stores around you that accept Apple Pay, or your public transport system lets you pay with your watch, I suppose that could be convenient.

Yes. It functions just as it would if the phone was near. I load music and can ride my bike and listen with my AirPods and all. It’s basically a phone on your wrist with the cellular.

I've tried the original Apple Watch, Series 2 and Series 5 and I kept none of them longer than a year. To me the Watch is a burden and it keeps my attention away from important things. I like the UI for the most part and it's quiet fun but I don't see much value in it and I can do everything on my phone better and faster. It's not worth it for me. I feel free not having it.

Agreed, which is why I ultimately stopped wearing mine and went back to a traditional wristwatch. Don't miss the AW at all.

I forgot that the design was one of the main reasons I sold my Watches. I'd much prefer a circular design closer to the mechanical watches too. The Apple Watch is also very thick. Honestly, it looks like the old nerdy calculator watches. If I have to wear a watch I want it to be feel like a jewel.

I guess it depends what side of the fence you are… The AW is a watch that does other stuff, or the AW is a wrist computer that happens to also tell the time. Think it boils down to mindset. I’m the latter

I tried an S6 cellular and just couldn't do it. UI was too small, messages and email never stayed synced up so I was constantly deleting the same messages off multiple devices. 3rd party apps are limited and the included 1st party ones had reduced functionality, typing text was terrible, health features I would never use or are gimmicks, they don't particularly look good, battery life sucks, and the resale/trade in values are astonishingly bad (worse than iPads) so even if you traded it in the next year you lost easily 75% of you originally investment so there was no point in buying the expensive models.

Weird how nobody talks about these things ha.

Do you go for cellular, or only GPS?

So you’re saying if I were to stick it out and see if the AW grows on me, I shouldn’t return this GPS one & get a cellular one?

That’s where I think I’ve been going wrong: Buying a watch that has to be tethered to my iPhone.

I’m thinking that going with a cellular model would completely open up the device, and make it much more versatile.

But what you’ve said has given me second thoughts.

I’m thinking I should have gone with a cellular enabled model.

Maybe having to be tethered to my iPhone is what’s causing me to see the device as a waste of time?
