I just got the new Magic keyboard with Touch ID and regrettably I sold my Magic Keyboard 2 on the same day, thinking both keyboards would be pretty much identical... but boy was I wrong.

I'm sure a lotta engineering went into it to making it quieter and feel more sturdy, but to me the keys on the new one just feel numb and lack feedback. Where is that clickity-clacky sound the old one had? The new one is way too soft and quiet for me.

I now regret selling my Magic Keyboard 2.

Is there anyone with me on this one? or am I just nitpicking?

Except the TouchID button, I didn’t see any difference in the typing experience between the two keyboards TBH, but you’re not the first I see who criticize the build quality of the new keyboard. Maybe they did change something for the worst and I can’t somehow feel the difference.

Also, where is the launchpad button? I used that button daily.. and that sleep button is useless.. I would change that to put the Mac or screen to sleep, but you can't change the function row keys with the new keyboard either...

I have the space gray iMac Pro full magic keyboard and originally I thought it was fantastic but after using the new MacBook 16" I got used to the new squishier keys and when I switch back to the full keyboard, it feels too clicky but after some use I get used it. they are both good, just different. Its almost as if I have to put a bit more effort into pressing the Magic 2 keyboard keys. maybe I prefer softer keys because I know for sure I hate mechanical keyboards. I dont understand what all the hype is all about. Big clunky keys that get in the way of fingers.
