Me :D

Not to say I will absolutely not upgrade

But the blue being discontinued, 128 hitting the right notes, battery life being a big talking point of the 2019 iPhones, xr successor becoming the mainstream model, and rampant indecision, all make me
Feel like I made a solid choice when I opted for it over Staying with X which would feel long in the tooth by now / getting xs which is pretty similar or forking over tremendously for the max

As a current X owner, I am on the fence about buying the 11. It is an upgrade in every single way except the the screen. I wouldn't have done it last year because the XR was a downgrade. I still want to see it in person, but the trade in value of the X brings the out-the-door cost of the 128GB 11 to $350+tax.

Well, I also have the X gen 1 and see absolutely no reason to upgrade. I need more tele(zoom) and not a additional ultra wide lens camera, but Apple is restricted by physics here. The UW Camera I can work around by merging two pics to get super duper ultra wide lens, but I rarely need this. Atmos Sound no need, I mainly use my X in my car, or with a very low volume in bed, or with headphones. Battery just got home from work and had almost 90% battery on my X, no need... it charges in my car anyway. What else? Nightmode is pure software computation, can be done with raw+app in a post process, too. More Speed, no need ... The Apps and Games i rarely play, already worked with iP5. The X is already idling around...

I think the iP11Pro does not have any must have features, if you already own a X.

You named about 6 things that are improvements over the X. Just because you personally do not need those things does not mean they are not upgrades. Another reason is the juicy trade in value. Getting $400 for a two year old phone is pretty nice. A few other improvements:

Dual SIM Support
Faster Wi-FI
U1 Chip
Stronger Glass
FaceID with the phone flat at an angle (eg on a nightstand)

Again, may not be relevant for you but still improvements. I am shocked at how close the 11 and 11pro are to each other. I had not interest in upgrading until I realized I could for $350.

I’m going from a black XR 64 to a black 11 64. Fresh battery, new warranty and with the sale of my XR it’s less than $200 out of pocket. I depend on my phone a lot so that kind of out of pocket cost each year is totally worth it to me. Plus we all know how the previous versions always slow down over time as new software is installed.

I’m not saying they didn’t improve these things, but it’s simply something for “want have” than “must have”, it’s normal hardware evolution instead of innovation. I would buy it if i had a 6/6s/7.

It used to slow down, yes, till Apple got caught.

I agree with that. I am just really shocked at the price/performance. For the first time in a while, I feel like it is not an overpriced phone.

Yes. Will be keeping my XR for a good while until I have a reason to upgrade.

Well, I find these high phone prices got too far... even the Android ones, not only Apple related.
But well it’s a company, and so long customers pay, they’ll milk. Once i sold my Canon DSLR to keep using the iPhone, said to myself iPhone camera is enough. Nowadays when I look at old pics the DSLR ones are the best, they just wow. Playing with the idea of getting a decent Mirrorless and skip these iPhone+camera thing at all. It’s getting nowhere, sadly Apple can’t circumvent physics.

Ohh and don’t get me wrong, if you badly want/need it, go and buy it. But for myself, I somehow noticed this got a level close to a yearly Apple shopping addiction. Regardless, if i needed or not, it was more a wanna wanna now, and I started to overrate iPhone features and brainwash myself by searching reasons to buy it. So think twice before buying it. :) And not even to develop you badly need it.
