So I just switched jobs from being a mailman that pushed a 200+ pound (when I first hit the streets) cart of mail and packages 16.5+ miles a day, went up and downstairs constantly, and was never still to having a desk job where I sit every single day for 8-10 hours. It's exhausting in a way - I actually had more energy the more I moved. Now I don't have any energy despite not moving around. Funny how the body works.

I just joined the local boxing gym and am going to start using the Apple Fitness service with my AppleTV. But I do feel like it's also time to upgrade my setup with a sit-stand desk so that I can "move around" and get off my feet while working.

My question to the MacRumors amazing utopia of a community is: Who has a sit-stand desk here and what would you guys recommend for me? I am looking at one that can hold two 27" monitors on a dual-monitor mount. My current 55" x 27.5" desk is a little too large for my apartment, so something that isn't as deep and possible not as long, although the length is fine. Something like 48" x 24". Would one of those ~$250 ones on Amazon be alright?

The wife and I both have this one at different jobs:

She brought hers home when we got converted to stay at home, and I didn't get to bring mine home. I miss mine.

It easily fits two screens and it easily converts from sit to stand. Uses two paddle triggers on the side and is assisted by a spring.

My wife and I both have Bekant sit stands from IKEA. Both are the longer version, I believe they have a 48" version as well and you have to be local to an IKEA as they don't ship (only local delivery available in some areas). Neither of us have had any issues with ours. I have a 27" iMac and 32" Samsung widescreen monitor on mine. Using a tape measure it looks like they would still both fit on a 48" but depending on how much other stuff you need on your desk it could be a tight fit. Depending on which one you are looking at you on Amazon just want to make sure that what you are putting on the desk doesn't get near the maximum weight capacity for the lifting system and that the lifting system is covered by a decent warranty.

I've had the 36" Pro Plus VariDesk @Khalanad75 linked to above. I can tell you that they are superbly built and are by far and away the best desktop converters you can buy - the height adjustment it makes is freeform, not a limited amount of pre-decided heights like most of the converters on the market.

That being said, I sold mine because I found it too constricting for serious mouse use. The space allotted for moving the mouse when using a full-size keyboard is limited as it is, but if you also use an Apple Magic Trackpad on the other side of the keyboard, there's no room at all for moving the mouse around. Also, when using the desk in the sitting position (the Varidesk set to its lowest setting), the keyboard sits too high to use comfortably because most office chairs barely fit under a desk at their highest setting - so your arms are at an awkward raised position.

In the end, if I were to do it again, I would instead get the Varidesk Standing Desk. In the end, it's just more flexible for virtually any office situation. It comes in three widths; 48", 60" and 72" - all 30" deep. Plus, I like the different finishes you can order for the table top.
