I bet most have it but how many of you have location services switched off? do you use it all the time?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Find my iPhone dosnt run location services constantly only when polled from the apple server to access the current location does it become active! Battery life isn't effected!

So location services doesn't effect battery life? you mean if everything else is off?

Location services do affect battery life but it really depends which location services!

Find my iPhone as an example will only mess with battery life if you sit there constantly checking the site for your phones location. But what nutter does that?

Depends how well you look after your iphone...

I can baby my phone, but if I am placed at gun point of knife point, I will certainly value my life over any electronic portables that I may have on me.

A mobile phone is more easily replaced than the trauma of a victim.

Location services won't affect your phone until you use an app that requires it. Turn off the system apps that use location services and you'll be find.

So if you only have find my iphone on in location services and nothing else battery life won't be effected?

If you have location services turned off then can you even turn location based services on? This just seems like an odd thread.

Depends if you understood the question or not...

Those who have location services off and therefore have find my iphone off have it off due to those thinking it hurts battery life. The question simply was if people had location services switched off due to battery life or not...

Just leave the bloody thing on at all times...what are you going to save 4% every 24hrs???

Just imagine how badly you would want to kick yourself in the arse if you lost your iPhone and didn't have LS on because you wanted to save 4% batt life!

I may be different from many people on MR, but I think that location services is a useful and cool feature. I leave it on for selected apps.

I remember once I left my 3Gs at the doctor office by mistake and sure enough Find My iPhone confirmed it. I would never turn it off. Luckily they had closed for the day and the receptionist found it and called me.

My friend has been concerned about having it on as he thinks due to it knowing his location it would be easy for people to find where he lives e.t.c...

Do all you guys keep your iPhone passcode on because if you don't when its stolen they could just go in and shut off your find my iPhone. I am torn on whether or not to turn it on. After 15 years of owning cell phones I have lost a few but they were returned by people who used my contacts to find me. I have even found a few phones and done the same thing. But maybe finding an iPhone 4s would be to tempting to keep. I wish you could passcode just this feature.

I thought everyone locked their iPhone. It's not a your old cell phone with a few phone numbers on it. I just put my contact info on my lock screen. Simple.

OT, but everyone needs to set a pass code. I know it takes a few extra seconds every time you want to look at your phone, but it is better than the damage that can be done by someone with malicious intent that has your phone.

IMO passcodes should be default on and prompt the user to create on during setup. Many people would simply live with it thinking that's just the way it is, and it would save them a lot at some point.
