I hope I can pay full price for the iphoe on verizon without having to sign a two year contract. :(

Believing all the hype is going to cost you a lot of money. For what?

It's just a phone.

You can purchase the phone with no subsidy as long as you are a Verizon Wireless customer. $599 for 16GB, $699 for 32GB.

If you are NOT currently a VZW customer and want to pay FULL price, well then I suggest buying the phone at the subsidized price and then paying the cancellation fee, it will end up saving you 50 bucks (unless they make you pay the first months bill, then it will cost about the same).

16GB = 199 + 350 ETF = $549
32GB = 299 + 350 ETF = $649

But I don't think you can purchase the iPhone without signing up for a contract, unless they offer prepaid plans for it (doubtful).

As for me, I will be paying $757.54 (incl. tax) for the 32GB version.

Verizon offers 1 year contracts on the android phones for $70 more. I bought my Droid (can't wait to get rid of it now!) for $269 instead of $199 and got a 1 year contract anticipating the iPhone would come, and it paid off.

However I have no idea if that has changed or if they will allow 1 year contracts on iPhones...you may wanna call VZ.

chances are they'll make him pay for at least the first month because you have to set up a whole plan in order to even get the phone in the first place.

I don't have verizon, have ATT but will be canceling; I just don't really want to sign another two year contract ever again.
If I were you I would seriously wait till June to see what happens. I fully expect the iPhone 5 will be released on ALL carriers. Financially you will be kicking yourself to pay an AT&T ETF then full price for an iPhone 4 on Verizon then 4 months later an iPhone 5 is available on Verizon.

Verizon NEEDS to have a $99 price point like ATT has with the 3gs so in June that will happen when the iPhone 5 comes out.

well yeah, if iPhone 5 comes out for Verizon in June obviously the Verizon iPhone 4 will be dropped in price, as for whether or not it will be as low as $99 for the 16GB we'll just have to wait and see.

edit: for all we know there is no upgrade for Verizon this June, anybody's guess at this point.

I'm considering waiting but my coverage sucks both at home and work, the phone works great outside! the only reason I'm with ATT is the iphone.

Unfortunately ill be paying full price, don't have an upgrade until October and I cant possibly wait another 10 months after waiting 4 years for the iPhone already! Goodbye $600.

Their FAQ already states that verizon wirless will be more then happy to take your money and it won't affect your contract. I mean if you have 500+ bucks lying around not doing anything go for it.

I paid full price for mine as I don't have an upgrade available right now but wanted an iPhone. I sold my other phone and also found some credits that I never knew I had so in the end... Only about $150 spent on the 32gb version. Can't wait for the iPhone 5 to be released!
