Yes the update normally a iPhone only takes 3 to 10 minutes. Maybe Apple watches are different

Watch updates can take quite some time. They're not iPhones.

I had no idea.

Back before Watch OS 6 they'd take even longer as you had to use the iPhone to perform the update. Now at least they can be done directly on the Watch.
