Who is Watching You?

I recently received a gift of an iMac from my friend. He's a cop. But also, he is the friend who wanted to apologized for falling on, and breaking my home-based iMac last May. The new iMac is second hand and belonged to a friend of a friend. He says it's clean. Since I have put family photos and work related information on it. Recently I have seen evidence that our copy write has been challenged with an invention that I created. No one else had it.

Is there software out there that can find all (even governmental) spyware on a computer, in this instance a Mac?

Although I haven't used it, MacScan seems to be able to search for those kinds of applications.

I would also enable the Firewall on your computer (in the System Preferences, Security), turn off all sharing (file, remote login, screen, etc.), and only connect to your network via wired connection.
