Here(-ish)
I just received an odd call. iOS 11 told me that I was receiving a call from Norway. I automatically assumed it was just spam/spoofing. However, when I looked it up with Hiya, it occurred to me that the digits were actually that of a local-ish area code, simply parsed differently.

For example:
- "Norway" --> 47 926 42 143
- "Local" --> 479 264 2143

Has anyone come across this? Think it's an iOS 11 issue or indeed some sort of spoofing?

I've come across this on my landline. I believe it comes from spoofed caller-id by incompetent tele-marketers.

I had a call recently from either Guam or some other pacific island as per the caller ID. It wasn’t a normal 10 digit US number so I ignored it and blocked it as I do with all other spam calls.

At a guess someone's attempted to spoof a number to make it look local, but forgot to add the country code ("1") on the front.

I have had the same issue in INDIA. But at country level. We have std codes and cell phone starting with same std codes are shown from a particular city landline. In reality they are just cell phone numbers with same initial std codes.
