I have seen the Digg it option on various forums, news stories, etc. I never understood what it was about, and really did not spend any time trying to figure it out. Today, my curiosity got the better of me, and I looked up the term on Google. I read about their website and how stories, articles get 'moved' there. I was wondering if anyone here uses it? If you do, I have a few short questions:

1) Do you find it useful?
2) Is there much of a learning curve?
3) Is there any downside?

I appreciate any comments, and insight, you might have to offer.

I use it to see what's buzzing on "teh internetz." If there's something super interesting, then it'll be on the front page. Sometimes there's some really funny pics and videos that I would've missed if I hadn't seen it on digg. It's pretty cool, I like it. I don't really see a downside to it though... :)

I use digg all the time. Its very web 2.0.

Users post stories, pictures, or videos. and other users "digg" them based upon their interest. If enough people digg them it gets to the front page. The recent tim russert story had like 7000 diggs. If you don't like the story or article or video, you can bury it, which is the opposite of a digg.

Comments on articles, pictures and videos can also be dugg/buried. The comments end up looking a lot like the threads in macrumors.

Digg is great place for everything internet. it draws from other places like reddit.com, break, com and 4chan.

I have it set to one of my homepages, I think it pretty much puts most of the best stuff on the internet onto one page with new stuff all the time.

I drop by most days to see what's going on. It's fun for things such as funny youtube videos or keeping up with internet memes, but rarely if ever read the comments section as I prefer to retain my sanity.

I use Digg. I check it daily for hilarious pictures or youtube videos.

I am a little sad though with how much the community has gone down the drain. It used to be tech only news also.

I don't get this. Some people like to complain endlessly about how awful Digg has become, but these same people return every single day to continue complaining about it. The state of Digg reflects the wishes of the people currently signed up. If you don't like it there are plenty of things you can do.

- Stop going to Digg
- Submit your own tech stories
- Digg other tech stories
- Ignore the front page and look at the tech section

Taking that last option solves your complaint.

i use Digg and comment sometimes under the same username. ive never submitted a story. i just have a top stories and Apple RSS feed to get the latest news on the internets.

I really don't know how to use it or even what it does.

I see it all over, so It'd be neat to have it as a resource I guess.. I have an account I just haven't taken the time to utilize it.
