Well, if you didn't already know, today is Cinco de Mayo. I wanted to know how many of you will be celebrating it.

I'll be going out to my local mexican restaurant to hang out tonight. I'll be eating plenty of chips and salsa and drinking lots of dos equis and tequila.

I was looking for a reason to drink tonight.:p We don't go out drinking. The town is too small and the church people talk. Too bad we're not out of town with the folks. I guess our celebration will have to wait until next weekend.

Have fun and take pictures!

I have an exam tonight, so maybe I'll celebrate a little afterwards.

I do have one tradition:
I always listen to Bob Dylan's song "Isis" on the 5th day of May.

I guess there's just 2 of us that celebrate it. I don't go all out or anything, it's just an excuse to drink. Oh well... I just thought there would be more.

Mexican Independence Day is actually September 16.

Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of the Mexican Army defeating the French at the Battle of Puebla.

As for myself, since I am 1/2 Mexican, and Mexican food is definitely my favorite, I do believe I will have tacos and beer tonight for dinner :D

The French? Did they try and take Mexico over at some point.....

Was the time of first post intentional?

Very clever if it was :)

Oh, and I had a burrito for lunch. That'll have to do :p

Well it's another quarantine night for me, there aren't any open bars I think :(. Oddly enough, Cinco de Mayo is not as widely celebrated here in the north of Mexico as it is on LA (for example). Over here you only get a day off at work and there are a few parades. Other than that it's not much of a holiday.

September 16th does involve some heavy drinking though ;)
