There is no such line. ALL phones require ATT contract in the US

i think OP wants another phone to sell that is not committed. It is still tied to At&t but not on a contract.

that is why I ask? Has the apple store ever done this? If I would walk in to an apple store right now, will they sell me a 3GS without contract?
