One of the 3 reasons I upgraded from 16 Pro Max was to make this message stop. Gah!

Other details, thank you for good points @dave006:
- I was setting it up as a new iPhone. Since iOS 26 upgrade, I have not been able to reliably open Contacts or Messages on my 16 Pro Max. A solid white screen appears instead. Contacts and Messages are critical to me. I don't know what's caused that to happen.
- Room was 73 degrees
- Yes it was in its silicone case.

Thoughts:

I haven't had this with a new iPhone, yet. I experienced all the time with my XS when iOS 18 first rolled out, but the problem resolved with subsequent OS updates.

I doubt the silicone case is the cause.

Ordinary room temperature that is tolerable to you won't be a cause, but sunlight falling on the device, even through a window, could be a factor (even with comfortable room temperature).

What I would be watching if it were me: Does the issue resolve itself after a day? Do you have any app using unusual amount of power, and does this resolve itself after a while? If the problem persists, does it resolve after the next OS update?

I think this may be an IOS26 issue. My 3rd gen iPad Pro has been getting this message ever since installing IOS26 last week. Never had it before.

Mine did that too right after the data transfer. Organizing all the data makes it run hot. Once it was all done it's been fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

10 minutes old? It's probably downloading your stuff and indexing everything, while you're also charging it.

I wouldn't worry about unless it remains hot and not charging for a long time.
