Well, I picked it up, a dual 867 MDD...

And after reading a lot about the noise i was kinda worried. But i think it's a quiet machine. I can even hear the harddisk over the fans.

And, wow, it's fast (comming from an powermac g4 - 400mhz sawtooth)...

i'm a happy camper!!!!

Happy to hear of another happy Mac purchase. My thought exactly about the sound emanating from a dual G4.

I thought the same thing when I bought my MDD a few months ago. I had read all of the horror stories of the noise, particularly at G4 Noise.com, and I started thinking of ways I could quiet it down. When it got here, I started it up and immediately thought, "This is not bad at all." It's only a tad louder than my B&W was when it was on my desk, and it's a huge performer. I love it. Enjoy your new G4!
