while putting items in the trash, i accidently put systems preferences in and emptied the trash and now its gone. Whenever i click the apple icon in top left and go to systems preferences nothing happens. how do i recover it :S

Anyway, you're likely going to need to reinstall from your DVD's that came with your system. No big deal, or rather I suppose I could email you a copy of it, not sure if that'll work. If you're using 10.5 I can do that for you.

Uh.. it's a bad idea to put your email address out in a public forum for a spam-spider to crawl across. So I removed it.
Just get your installer DVD and use Pacifist to pull the default Preference Panes.
