The only thing keeping me from hitting the "Buy Now" button on a new 20" iMac is waiting for someone to figure out the Windows-compatibility issue. I currently have a PowerMac and a PC sharing a CRT. I want to dump the entire mess and get an Intel iMac. Since the iMac has no video in, I pretty much need to dump the PC when I dump the PowerMac and the CRT (RDC isn't much of a solution...). My PC is used very rarely, but I have a couple of Windows-only apps I use.
Every day I expect to see the news posted that someone has successfully booted a Windows drive or partition on an Intel iMac. Actually, I expected to see this almost immediately after the machines shipped. The delay is agonizing. Is this proving to be more technically challenging than expected, or are there just not enough people interested in taking on the challenge?
We saw hacked versions of OS X running on generic PCs in no time. Surely getting Windows on the Intel iMac is equally attainable?
And why aren't any virtual machine solutions ready to go already? Apple announced the switch to Intel forever ago (in tech time). Where are the big virtual machine announcements?
The hacker community is letting me down...

Imagine the glory of posting the first pics of XP running, natively, on an iMac.
Who is going to grab the brass ring?
