gladly paid the 200 and left tmobile. no point in having a limited iPhone and paying the premium price.

Who on EARTH would do that??? It would be slow as molasses. If you really want T-Mo, why not get a MT Slide, or HTC Sensation, both with HSPA+ and UMA.

Don't forget no visual voicemail. That's one thing you take completely for granted until you don't have it anymore.

I did the same thing... Did you port to AT&T or VZN? I went AT&T... ups and downs.. great at night - like blazing 8mbps fast but during the afternoon - data non-existant at times.

I know the t-mobile 3G will not work with iPhone 4S.

But what about t-mobile's 4G network HSPA+ - 2100MHz band? apple lists that frequency in the tech specs?

I understand there is to it that meets the eye ...

any tech savy users can explain the t-mobile 4G and iPhone 4S compatibility?

No, no 3G or 4G/HSPA+ with Tmobile USA.
Just Edge, that's all.

It will not work.
The iphone and all iphones since the iphone 3G is missing their odd 1700 MHz band.

ok thank you,

unless apple makes a specific iPhone model for t-mobile it is not going to cut it.

I love t-mobile (even though i am currently on ATT) and hate to see them merge with ATT.

Sprint also needs to pick up some data network speed.

Other drawbacks or hiccups besides EDGE? One person mentioned no visual voice mail. Anything else? MMS still require a jailbreak to restore on the 4S running on T-Mobile? I've got a separate 4G (faux G) mobile hotspot that the 4S could connect to via wifi (and thats on during the small % of time that I'm away from regular wifi networks), so...

My friend got tmobile and got a unlock iPhone 4(yes I know he is referring to the 4s) but damn the speeds sucks so bad, idk how he can stand it , he says the he doesn't pay much because of his family plan but I would get a nice android phone instead of using edge , mm idk I couldn't stand those speeds is way too slow

Moved from T-Mo to Verizon for the 4s. I miss the unlimited data, but I prefer the omnipresent network of Verizon.

Apparently some of you missed the huge news article about the ATT/Tmobile merger being blocked by the government.

Yeah, I'd be on Android there too. The MT Slide or the Sensation are both nice phones. Heck, I'd be on Android if I was on Verizon.

I have had the 1st iPhone, then the 3G and now the 4S. EDGE has never been a problem for me at all. I am has happy as I could be at the moment, compared to the commercials, Siri works a little slower but still gets the job in time. :D

Speeds on tmobile with the 4s still beats sprint speeds lol :p

You can't really knock Sprint for speed. Their coverage is what sucks. I played with a Virgin Mobile phone that was getting 1.8mbps down, where my Captivate was getting 2. Now my iPhone gets like 4, but still, 1.8 ain't bad. That being said, I think getting contract on Sprint is nuts. If you're going to go contract, get a tier 1 carrier.
