I was kind of surprised to see a full battery when I switched it on. A quick check revealed that it was manufactured the last week of February, so I'm impressed it kept the charge for over a month.

Neither my iPad 4 nor my iPad Pro or any of my devices for that matter came with 100%. That's rare!

I've opened thousands of iPads and very rarely are they over 90% ( typically in the 80s ).

(new)iPad was ordered before they were available ( accidentally ) but will not arrive until 20 Apr 2017.

81% on the 2017 model I received today. What's odd is when I hooked it up to my PC to restore from backup, it said "not charging" up at the top where the battery % is. Never seen that before on any iOS device. And yet...the battery % kept going up during the restore. Ghost in the shell?

Mine has stayed at 100% overnight despite wi-fi and bluetooth being on.

Very impressed.

My 2017 iPad came with 83%. I am not sure whether it is recommended to fully charge a device you dont know how long it will be in a shelf. I am sure Apple charges their iPads to around 85% before they get boxed as you shouldnt fully charge lithium ions battery if it is not going to be used for an undetermined period of time.

Regarding battery, I am absolutely amazed by this iPad. I've been getting 14 to 15 hours usage time!

Nice... sure wish mine would arrive so I could put them on the bench.

My 2017 iPad I bought at Target arrived at 100 percent. I was surprised at first, but now I'm not. This thing manages battery life amazingly. It loses nothing while I sleep 8-9 hours, and it holds up well while using intensive games that normally crush other batteries. It's also not surprising that it was at 100 because of how the battery sticks at 100 percent infinitely longer than it holds at any other percentage. Maybe I have to run the thing down to zero to get it to work properly, but out of the box the battery monitor isn't too accurate. At least not when it comes to calculating 100 percent.

This is interesting. When Apple replaced a battery on my iPhone 6s about a year or whatever it was ago, it only had 20%, which they told me was due to shipping constraints. They weren't allowed to ship a high quantity of batteries fully charged..
