Why does the 2013 iMacs come with the bulkier 3.5 inch Hard Drive instead of a smaller 2.5 inch drive? Is it a case of capacity on the smaller drives?

It's about price, capacity and speed. 2.5" drives top out at 2TB and are typically slower since they've been designed for power efficient environments. The price per GB is also considerably higher.

Also, note that 3.5-inch drives come only in the 27-inch iMac. The 21-inch iMac comes with a 2.5-inch hard drive

Thanks guy. Thought it may have been for those reasons. Interesting about the 21" iMac too.
