Why does it take 4 steps to delete a contact of the Iphone.

Step 1: Tap Contacts
Step 2: Select Contact
Step 3: Press Edit
Step 4: Scroll down to tap Delete Contact
Step 5: Press Delete Contact

Can't this have been made easier.

4 steps minimum?

I basically agree with you, but if you think, how much easier can it be?, you have to tap on contacts and select the contact to know at least who you want to delete, then if there was a delete button directly there, we would have to press it, that is 3 steps, then you would of course want to confirm that you want to delete the contact and did not press the delete button by accident, that is 4 steps.

The only part where I agree with you why we have to press the edit button (I don't want to edit it, I want to delete it) and then scroll all the way down to find the delete button, that could have been made easier, as in just a delete button directly in the contact page with a confirmation.

Anyway I don't find it that hard either.

My guess is that most people don't delete contacts often, so adding something like swipe to delete would end up causing way more accidental deletes.

to make it idiot proof :D

lol yeah probably right to make it idiot proof. So some people like it some people don't oh well never mind lol. I was just going through contacts today and some I wanted to delete. I was thinking, this is going to take a while lol.

I thought that was incredibly silly as well but I guess they really want you to be sure.

What happened to be able to click edit and then just tap the red dots?

Nevermind, I'm getting it mixed up with Messages app.

Slide over contact in list for options like everywhere else + tap delete + confirmation = 3 steps without any screen changes.

Apple should allow the swipe left to delete similar to messages. It'll make life easier..

I doubt it - if they made it easier for contacts to be deleted - then there would be a backlash from the very same people, who would then complain about the fact that APPLE didn't make it safe enough for contacts NOT to be accidentally deleted….

There is just no pleasing some people…...

I'd imagine people mistakenly deleting contacts left and right...unless there was a confirm button after swiping.

I dont think someone would be careless enough to delete accidentally.. Well in my case i wont but not sure for other people though haha!

Why would you care about a person enough to make a contact of them, and then want to delete it? It can't be something that is done very often.

I have contacts for people I haven't talked to in 5+ years, because if they ever happen to call me, I'd like their caller ID info.

Also, we cannot delete multiple contacts. Every year or so, I go through my contacts and delete a couple or more, so I use an app called "Groups".

Would be much easier to just:
"Edit > Tap contacts you want removed > delete all".

To solve the possible mistake, a message like "Are you sure?" could be displayed. Really, it's not that hard.

Use Google account to sync . You can add or delete contacts from desktop

It's complicated, bro. I use the previously mentioned app, which is simple. Apple should consider improving the system, so I can delete one more app. (wink!)
