I'm seeing that there's a $7,000 difference between both these models, but why? Is the bracelet worth that much or am I totally missing something here?

Look at the gold clasp on leather strap. It probably has half as much or more gold as the Watch itself.

Yeah, I did notice that the strap has the clasp but never thought that (relatively) small piece could almost double the price of the watch. That's insane.

If you have to ask, you are not the customer for this fine upscale limited edition accessory symbol. :apple::cool:

Jewelry markup is crazy, but think about this. The Steel Watch probably has $2 worth of steel in it, and it's $549. The Edition with that strap likely has at least $2K worth of gold in it, so maybe it isn't so bad of a deal? LOL

for a sec there i thought it was april 1st. talk about marking this up like apple is a luxury swiss watch maker. i guess they are trying to insert themselves into likes of LV, Chanel, etc.

$7000 seems like a bizarre number to choose for the markup.

$7k for a leather band, and doing so in plain sight. It's one thing to pay an insane markup for something, but when you can see two products that are nearly identical and grossly marked up, it's a tough pill to swallow to realize that insane markup is going towards just one part of the device - the cheapest part of the device by far. the leather band costs almost as much as the case.

Style and fashion.
thats the reason why there is a $7,000 difference. Fashion is never done and hence it changes as time flows. Yeah, I probably sound like Bruno right now but it's the reality of the luxury markets and how style/fashion works. If you need to ask why there is a price difference, the subtlety might be lost on you (sometimes that is not such a bad thing).

Because they think they can get away with it. There's no other possible explanation, certainly none based in material or manufacturing costs.
