IS it like mandatory by law for all those markings and stuff to be put on the back of the iphone? i dont care if it was designed in california put together in china and FCC and X and all sorta of crap on the back. what is the point of that? i have never seen any other sell phone with so much **** on the back. why cant it just be clean with the apple logo? if some one could answer this question that would be great.

There's no battery cover to hide it under, so yes, it's required by law.

Yes, they are required by law. On my iPhone 3G, these logos where lighter than the Apple logo and the iPhone text though; interesting how they decided to make them more noticeable and the same as the Apple logo and iPhone text on the new phone.

wow apple needs to stop being lame and just make the back removable so it can hide that crap. its so ugly..

I wonder if the iPhone 4's sold in other countries have the FCC logo and other stuff, too. Anyone across the pond care to take a picture?

The US models have the CE Mark, so I'd guess the euro models have the FCC mark. One universal part, just like other parts of the phone, save the SIM.

Yes. In fact, the only logos/markings that the US requires are the FCC logo and the FCC ID number. The IC ID number is for Canada, and the "no trash" "C E" "0682" and "(!)" icon are all for European regulatory agencies.

You can see all of it under Settings > About > Regulatory.

Generally the manufacturers don't bother making country/region-specific products just for the markings. They put the big ones (US, Europe) on there and call it a day.

Wow, how often do you look at the back of your phone to care?

Every time someone wants to take a facebook duckface shot:

Not "like" law, it is the law. You haven't had a problem with the previous 3 phones and this one is suddenly a problem. And if you seriously think a removable back would look better than the current writing, you're higher than I am.

Maybe you should sell your phone.

Get it?
Because you spelled "cell phone" as "sell phone"
