What's the deal with all the malice, intolerance, flaming etc in forums?
The paradigm of which is 4chan, but which is seen everywhere...

Why? Personal explanations :D ?

There is a thread (or 2) on this already. Now I know I will be flamed on this post because I notified the OP that there is a thread on this. This is a perfect example of what you are asking about.

And at which point may a forum discussion be repeated? When all participants are dead? Or perhaps even sooner!

The thread started just a few weeks ago, but thinking about it, it may be different than this one.
