Why do I have to see all these greyed out targets? They clutter the place up. Surely I only need the one I’m working towards. On this principle, why doesn’t it give me the next seventy two monthly challenges greyed out too?

It's telling you how close you are to hitting them.

The top right one shows that you have hit 1,552 move goals and once you get to 1,750 you'll get that award. So if you're motivated by awards (and otherwise why would you be looking) this shows how close you are to getting another one.

I think the OP understands that. I think his question is why does it show all the other ones after the next one. I can see his point. But it doesn't bother me personally.
