I recently noticed a thin gray line about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen of my above mentioned laptop. I took it in to the genius bar and was told this was a legitimate repair and they'd order the part (display?) and call me in a couple of days. I could then bring it in for the repair. That was two weeks ago. I called AppleCare Support and they tried to call the store to check and the store never answered the phone! I then went back to the store, spoke to an associate who apologized for the poor communication and said the parts are hard to come by. ???? This is a 4 year old high end laptop. (2TB storage, 64GB RAM) I've been a Mac user since 1984! Never had such lousy service.

Is Apple giving me the run around? Do they not want to do the repair? Can anyone suggest options?

Call (Apple, not the store) and request it be escalated... I'm not sure what the backorder timeframe is, but at some point they'll authorize a swap to a newer model.

Called Apple Support, the agent called the store, then told me the part had come in. I drove down there only to be told by a Genius Bar person that the part was NOT in...grrrr, and then after apparently looking it up, said it would be there in two days... we'll see.
