I always wonder why to announce something while it is not prepared for distribution in a sufficient amount. Apple makes a big story announcing new iPhones but after ordering it is not available. We preordered 2 iPhones 13 Pro on 17 September, paid deposit - and till today no trace of it, the authorised Apple reseller just keeps saying, nothing received for us and very few coming in general. We put the present ones on sale, people interested but we can't give them away since we don't have new ones and have no idea when they come. Really strange - first the maker shall have enough things to sell and THEN only they should announce, not opposite ? Or is it just a show to demonstrate how "rare" these things or what ??

Global chip shortage. Read recently they’re pulling from iPad components to keep up with iPhone demand. Better to order directly from Apple online that has maximum 3-4 week wait.

Also Wall Street would absolutely panic if Apple tried a delay to realistically meet demand. Hence the "keep calm, just wait" stance.

Many products are scarce now and will continue to be for the near future. Apple is just like all the other companies scrambling to get products delivered for the holidays. I check daily at Apple stores on the internet in my area and see phones available for limited times during the day so products are being received in small amounts. Not sure what country your in but it sounds like you're just going to have to be patient.. I personally never get a new phone until December to give demand a chance to settle down. This year will be different and most likely supply won't exceed demand until January/February 2022..

This.
If not because of Wall Street apple definitely could just delay the launch or even skip a whole year of hardware release then move on for a much better product next year.

I doubt it. They still want to make money while selling phones in a lower quantity.

What you have to keep in mind is that they shipped millions of phones since release. Tipping on a 13;)

For a tesla you wait now a year

Smartest thing to do is preorder or get to Apple Store/carrier store on launch day or week

Don't see how you expect them to achieve this.

Should they make a hundred? A thousand? A million? A billion? No-one knows how many they will sell. One model/colour/storage combo could be extremely popular while another languishes. They only really know how many as orders come in. (Despite market research, etc. I would happily have bought an iPad mini in Starlight - until I saw it in the flesh.)

If they are a week, a month, or more behind, should they cancel the keynote (or at least the relevant part of it)? Then arrange another event to launch the Apple Watch 7. Even if they actually have a signficiant number ready to ship - but not as many as they forecast they will need.

It can be frustrating. But we have all had an incredible run of successful launches and deliveries for many years - mostly. Though the opportunity for a massive fail has always been in the wings. Those who are really, really keen have the opportunity to click within seconds of their Apple Stores re-opening. Or queue up at a real shop on the right day.

Why not order directly from apple? If ordered on the 17th if directly from apple you should’ve of gotten it by the next week on launch day.

I've just ordered the 13 PRO to my girlfriend. Will arrive sometime in December but unconfirmed date. Doesn't matter really, hope it will arrive this year at least..

Wait, why did you even pay a deposit? I don't think that's a normal policy, even for authorised resellers. Pre-order, yes, but deposit?

Or together with iPhone 14 ...

If you can, as others mentioned get your deposit back and order directly from apple.com or if you live near an apple store, check inventory. Apple Stores do receive shipments on a daily basis and updates their availability. I’ve seen like it’s almost daily to every other day that the Apple Store near me are getting the pro max’s in stock. Just have to make it quick because within an hour they do disappear.

There is no Apple Store here.

You snooze, you lose. Got mine on day 1 (actually picked up on day 2).
