Why are all IPTV apps subscription based?

Just something I've noticed on Apple TV a lot, most if not all are monthly subscriptions rather than pay once, yours forever. Are there any on the Appstore that is just a fixed fee on purchase?

There are a number that have lifetime licenses. UHF and Opus off the top of my head.
