Why are Handbrake movies so dark??

Is there any way to fix this? I am simply using the default settings.

I have tried both iPhone/iPod touch settings and iPod Hi Res settings. Both give a very dark transfer.

What movies?

I've ripped X3 and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and both look extremely good using the iPhone setting. I did use 2 pass encoding and Turbo as well. Doubt that would brighten the movie(s) you're trying to encode.
