After looking at the accessories section of Apple's site , I found that some bands are more or as expensive as the watch itself. For example , the silver link bracelet costs 450$ , that's the same price of the stainless watch itself and 100$ more expensive than the sport watch with its band. My question is Are the bands more expensive to manufacture than the watch itself? Why are they so expensive?

Where do you see the prices of the bands?

Perhaps the complexity and number of parts in the band makes them more costly than the unit that is only a few parts. Or maybe they are also marked up more because they are "accessories" ?
What if the watch unit itself is being sold at lower profit or even a loss to make them more affordable in a bundle?

I think Apple would NEVER sell a product at a loss to make money from companion products/services like kindle does.
