Why don't we see any production leaks, unboxing videos or disassembly pictures for the Apple watch? I remember seeing all of these for the iPhones a week before release..

Ummmmm. Because there aren't any? Or for some other reason. Or because...

Your memory is fuzzy.

There were no leaks of the first iPhone or UI

The iPhone 4 was leaked of course when gizmodo got a hold of it.

A few blurry cam shots and rumors here or there since. There was never for example an unboxing of the iPhone 6.

The apple watch unlike others has been pre announced and already reviewed before shipping to customers. Leaks aren't possible as there is nothing to leak.

Why would people care about production leaks given that Apple itself showcased the Watch 6 or so months ago during the keynote? We all know what they look like.

I feel like OP is referring to the leaks prior to the announcement or probably the production line before the release this Friday... At this point is not any more because it's already been announced. But more appropriate question is the lack of leaks for the watch before the even last sept. That is odd, compnsidering the only leak they got was a schematic few days leading into the event. Apple did an awesome job concealing the watch IMO.

Not really. It's significantly easier to keep things under wrap if it hasn't entered production six or so months ago. There were no leaks before the original iPhone keynote either.

This is in contrast to later generation iPhones where we got plenty of leaks before they streeted, as they had to produce millions of units starting well before the unveiling. Only a few weeks passed between the unveiling and the streeting. I guarantee you we'll see many more leaks with future generation Watches.
