6.1.2 was released today and, just like every other release, countless threads are created alerting people that it's there... and, just like every other release, they're instantly locked and told to go to the main page for the discussion.

As the day goes on, the locked thread falls further and further down the page, and, eventually, someone will create another one saying the same exact things with the same inevitable results.

Why not make a sticky, that stays up for a week, alerting everyone that it's being discussed on the main page?

It seems that a sticky would help stop the constant posts/ locking of threads and, for users like me who rarely go to the main page, it would alert that there is an update or major discussion (such as the lock-screen security issue) going on.

Most people somehow manage to skim past stuck threads. Especially those who feel the need to share information thats posted on the homepage.

Yeah, honestly, you can have 20 stuck threads on a forum and people would still post about it. They're always going to see the New Thread button first. And it's not just here, it's on every forum you go on that this happens.
