Why buy a Mac Pro

Hello!

Again, I am new to the mac world but I was wondering why anyone would chose to buy a mac pro over an imac with its new specifications? Other than the fact the mac pro is expandable, what are the advantages if I'm using it fot compressed HD video editing?

8 cores vs 2? Potential for more Ram. HD video takes up lots of space. use of up to 8 monitors.
