Hi,

I have the new late 2008 macbook pro, and in settings I have it set so that it illuminates the keyboard in low lit conditions, but I have noticed, that even in well it rooms, there are lights that are in beneath the keyboard?

is this normal?

furthermore, when the need for the keyboard illumination does arise, the lighting isn't enough?!

thanks!!

Because its still just another sensor not a sentient being. Meaning the room maybe well lit but if that light doesn't hit the sensor it assumes its still dark

Agreed, and just to add the sensors are now in the LCD near the camera as oppose to where the used to reside which is next the keyboard under the speaker grills. Any light from above won't affect the sensor, only direct light facing the screen or surrounding ambient light.

Are you sure the sensors aren't actually the camera itself as opposed to "near the camera" ?? :)
