Why can't I D&D multiple aliases in SnowLeopard?

For some reason in SnowLeopard I can't drag-and-drop multiple aliases after highlight multiple files/folders.

I've been using Macs for well over a decade and I've always been able to do this.

What setting do I have set wrong that I can no longer do this?

I can't imagine Apple would be so dumb as to make a person now have to make aliases one at a time.

Specs: 27" iMac, OSX 10.6.6

Works with 10.6.6!?

Highlight files > Command-Option > begin to drag and only one of the files (the one the cursor is directly above) creates that alias and that one alias only.
