Why can't I remove login password?

I've tried everything. I've tried automatic login but I still get the password window everytime i open the macbook up. i tried leaving the password field blank, but i still get to the window where i have to type in a password, but this time i only hit enter (as there is no password) and i get in... i really just want to open the computer up and directly be transferred to desktop

Have you tried System Preferences > Security > General > Require password ... yet?
