Why cant I stream itunes shows from my MAC on LAN?

IS there any way when im at home to use my Iphone as streaming client to my MAC's Itunes?

I have a bunch of shows movies etc on there and would be nice to stream instead of syncing these shows is it even possible? Jail broke or not?

problem with that is is must covert each file I have like 30 files would take forever to covert them to a stream. why it wont do it native is beyond me..
