I have battery percentage set to off in Settings but the percentage never goes away. I'm getting depressed with my battery life and figured I'd turn off the percentage until Apple gets things fixed. Restart doesn't solve anything. Any ideas or can it not be turned off on the 4S?

if the setting is indeed off, try a hard reset.
hold the power and home buttons until you the the white apple.

from iClarified:
Step One
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.

Step Two
The iPhone screen will go black after a few seconds. Release both buttons once the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Let me guess: Your previous iPhone was jailbroken and you had the battery-indicator installed from Cydia.
When you got your new iPhone 4S, you restored from backup made with your previous iPhone.

Correct?

I think I may have downloaded it, but never actually installed it. Is my only recourse a fresh start?
