Why can't I watch 4K YouTube content with Chrome on my M1 MBA?

This is very weird. I'm able to watch 4K content on YouTube with my M1 MBA with Safari but Chrome doesn't give me any options higher than 1080p. Of course I have the latest version of Chrome that's supposed to be optimized for the M1 MacBook platform.

Any suggestions?

It works here. I just installed the new M1 Chrome version from the Chrome website and I can select 4k on youtube. I have an MBA with an 8-core GPU. I am using Chrome Version 87.0.4280.141 (Official Build) (arm64)

What Chrome version and GPU are you using?

I have a base model M1 MacBook Air.

Okay, I did some digging around and I found this. Go to your extensions in Chrome and look for this extension. I turned it off and now I can watch 4K content on YouTube with Chrome. No idea why this is but I don't care. All I know is now I can watch 4K videos on YouTube while using Chrome on my M1 MBA.

safari can 4k but not 8k , chome can 8k but a bit lag.
