Why can't Mac Rumors do these things:

1. Do a delete all on the Wasteland category and start fresh
2. Whenever a code sharing thread has ended, all codes have been taken, someone should report the thread and have it closed.
3. I know this has been said many times before, but why not password-protect the Code-Sharing section of the site?

Thanks. What so you think?

Password protecting wouldn't work that well.

People on this site have many friends...on this site. They can tell the password to each other, and get in.
The only way to "protect" the Code-Sharing is to make it so that only members can see it. That wouldn't work because many new members join to post codes for their applications, and if they don't see the section, they won't join to post it.

Understand?

Meh, some sections get cleaned up a tad. Why would the first matter?

Don't threads in Wasteland count as threads? I mean, they were put into wasteland for a reason weren't they? How many times have you gone into wasteland to see a specific post?

Ah, now I see it . Guess that won't work.

What about #2?

Many times, actually. Especially if I posted in a thread that eventually gets moved to the Wasteland. I like to see how low it went before it got locked.

So do it yourself. Every post has a report link.

In regards to point 2:

Isn't the whole point of the developer giving away codes to get feedback, a review or two, suggestions about the application etc.

Therefore despite the codes being taken the thread still serves a purpose and a point of contact with the developer.

Does it matter if a thread is open if it isn't being used?

Isn't that what the iTunes comment and review system for?

Perhaps but it is hard to have a constructive conversation in that method. Speaking on forums allows for greater freedom. Also one method of contact doesn't have to be the exclusive method of contact.

I personnaly don't see the need for threads to be closed. If one instance the thread will be inactive so it doesn't matter and in others the thread will be active so it doesn't matter.

I just don't see the problem it's not like we close old technical help threads so why would these be any different.

OK. I see what you mean. Guess my ideas are no good:(
