Why can't the iPhone support UMA/WiFi Calling?

I have it on my BlackBerry 8900 and love it but it baffles me why this feature never grew more popular. Would be awesome on an iPhone, don't ya think?

textfree with voice, you can make an account and call + text. i also use it on my ipod touch.
