Why couldn't Apple integrate Reminders into Notes app?

Awesome Notes does it, and does it fine.

I'm wondering what was the need for a separate app when they could've easily implemented all those features into Notes?

Because they like to take up your home screen with apps.

actually would make more sense to put it into the calender app more than notes.

That would've been fine too, there was no need to clutter the homescreen woth a new separate app.
