Why did only ATV3 get the version 7.0 and up?

Have 6 ATVs (3 ATV3 and 3 ATV2) in the home and the ATV2s didn't get the 7.0 and newer updates. Saw on an apple support article that only the ATV3 gets 7.0 and newer. Any reason why? Does that also mean that software updates are done for ATV2? I really prefer the new menu look and hate that the ATV2s in the house didn't get it. They are HD so I'm not sure why Apple didn't push version 7 or at least the menu updates to the ATV2.

Probably for the same reason that the original iPad and the iPhone 4 (both running the same A4 processor) didn't get iOS 8 (which is what ATV 7 is the equivalent of)... The processor is probably lacking the extensions necessary to run ATV 7.0

Interesting, I totally forgot about the A4 chip in the ATV2 that was in the iPad1. Ugh. Maybe it's time to sell the ATV2 and move to ATV3s.

sell 3 TV 2...
buy 5 or 6 TV 23 or something else nice with the extra cash.

I assume you mean 5 or 6 ATV 3's, or else I never have to work again.

ATV2 can be jailbroken whereas the 3 cannot. People paying premiums have their reasons.

Same boat here I have two aTV2's. I have had pretty good luck with Ebay the last few months.
