Apple Music widgets either show no recently played music or show the wrong song/album. What’s even the point of using widgets if they are wrong?

Good question, wondered this myself. Apple’s widgets are pretty crap and always have been but the music one is especially useless. Ever since their inception, I’ve had this exact issue that you’ve described. And it is no better all these years down the line.

Typical, inept not fit for purpose crApple coding.

I have no issue with this. My widget always shows the recently played album/track? (iPhone and iPad)Do you have "use listening history" selected from within the app settings?

Working fine here, I've listened all of these today. Mission: Impossible via my iPhone on the way home. The other three using Music on my Work Mac.

Just tried it again on mine and whilst the widget showed the correct playlist, it started from the beginning of a new song rather than carrying on from where it left off a few hours ago. Garbage.

The only way I can guarantee for music to carry on plane where it left off is to go into the music app and start playing again.
