Why do Apps Randomly Open after Sleep Mode Awakens?

I'm using the Mac Mini (Late 2014 with OS X El Capitan 10.11.5). When I awaken the computer from sleep mode with the mouse, at least one third party software program opens up randomly.

Thanks for any tips on how to solve the problem of third party software programs opening up after sleep mode is awakened with the mouse.
