iPod touch Why do I haveto download the software my touch came with?

I've had my touch 4g jailbroken for a while and I wanted to restore it. But I have to download 4.1 even though my ipod came with it on it? I had a 3rd gen too, but I don't remember having to do this. Someone please chime in. It's a big deal to me because my internet sucks...really bad haha.

Well, if you buy a computer, it comes with the OS on a CD, right? And if you ever have to reinstall the OS, you do it from the CD. But iPods don't ship with the OS on a CD, if you need to restore your iPod, then you download it from the internet. What can I say, that's how Apple decided to do it.

I guess you are right. Just kinda through me off for a second. I was thinking if you don't have to download it the first time you plug it in, why the first you restore it? Oh well...Downloading now. >.> haha
